Instagram’s New Business Features

Good news! Instagram has been gradually rolling out business profiles for business accounts and users in the UK. The new feature now allows companies to swap their standard profile to a different type of account specifically for businesses.

Why is this good?

Well, your audience will gain access to handy features such as the Contact button. Cue appreciative oohs and ahhs. This is displayed next to the Follow button on your page and enables the user to contact your business directly through the Instagram app. If your contact information is all up to date your followers will be able to see your address or choose to call, email or get directions to you right from your Instagram profile. It now couldn’t be easier for them to get in touch with you.

From your point of view, the most exciting new Instagram for Business feature might be the ability to gain insights into your followers’ behaviour and the success of your posts. You’re now able to see number of weekly impressions, top posts, weekly reach and clicks to your site. You can learn about the demographic of your followers – age, sex, location – as well as see at a glance which are the most popular times of day and days of the week for your followers. The idea being that you will then be able to make better, more informed decisions about what you’re posting and when in order to get maximum exposure/engagement.

If you’re a business and are either not on Instagram (shame on you!) or haven’t switched your profile over yet then don’t worry – it’s incredibly simple to set up. Just click ‘Settings’ on the app and keep your eyes peeled for ‘Switch to business profile’.
