Phil Kite was the very successful CEO of one of our digital partners, engineering company Reece Group. After suffering from what he calls his second mid-life crisis earlier this year he hung up his briefcase and decided to take up rowing – resulting in his latest project, Team Tyne Innovation. Now he’s embarking on his biggest adventure to date.
What is known as the world’s toughest row, Phil and his three team mates will be competing in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge – a 3,000 mile row across the Atlantic starting at La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finishing in Antigua. Facing extreme weather conditions and intense physical strain, the team knew they needed to be well-equipped for their journey ahead.
So, where do we come in all of this?
Team Tyne Innovation was set up by Phil to promote their adventure and showcase the North East’s innovation and talent it has to offer. By working with a range of local businesses, the team have been able to source the materials needed for their journey and have received sponsorships from the likes of Newcastle College, Big Solar and Cubik Eyewear to name a few.
After hearing about Phil’s latest adventure we were thrilled to help him. We designed and built a brand new website for Team Tyne Innovation, highlighting the reason behind the challenge and why the North East’s talent has such an important role to play. This site has enabled Phil and his team with a central platform to promote their journey and support, and will be kept up to date with the latest news and sponsorship information for the duration of the bid.
